From the Editor: Super Super Bowl Party

I joined millions of others on Super Bowl Sunday and watched the game. Technically I was with several dozen peole on a tiny (2 acres) island in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda at the far end of the British Virgin Islands. This little island is called Saba Rock and is home to a small hotel, bar, restaurant, and marina. They are notorious for parties and the only way to get here is by boat.

Imagaine chartering a yacht and having the ultimate party on an exclusive tropical island - it's possible and I would love to help you plan this trip for Super Bowl 2006. Make it a long weekend or a fun-filled week. Regardless of who's playing or winning you will always remember this game!

Your charter yacht can anchor or moor near Saba Rock and your captain will dinghy you to the party. Cheer on your favaorite pick and toast to the clever person who decided to getaway to the Islands for this special event - oh was that person you?

Barometer: Highlights of an Island bar

This charming little bar is located in Mongoose Junction Shopping Center ont eh Island of St. John. Your charter yacht crew can anchor at Soloman Beach and a quick dinghy ride over to the National Park dock will bring you right to Picturesque Cruz Bay. Nestled in the stone structures housing artisitc and local boutiques you will find the gazebo with a little bar in the center surrounded by several stools. This is the best place to chill out, mingle with some local St. Johnians, or just take a break from browsing through the shoppes.

Three Generations

My favorite type of trip to plan is families with three generations. This is because I am almost as excited as the guests throughout the planning phase knowing how great the trip will be and the memories that will be made. The all-inclusive yachts offer something for kids of all ages.

Depending on the size of your group you may want to consider having two yachts sail around and anchor in tandem. This allows for twice the fun – just imagine the racing excitement if your family is competitive. A nice idea is to have each yacht host a party for the group every other night – break out the board games, happy hours, snorkel gear, or whatever floats your boat.
Three generations plus two yachts equals one great vacation!

I would be delighted to make recommendations for yacht s that would be great for your family. Call me at 1-800-556-0431 ext 200

The Blue Tang

This beautiful species may be found from Bermuda to Brazil in rocky and coral reef areas. They are typically found in schools of 10 - 30 and are often very curious of snorkelers and may swim with you. This is a glorious experience to surrounded by these new friends as they show you their home. They can grow upt to 12 inches with a pancake shape and a thin continouous dorsal fin extending the length of their body.

The most fascinating characteristics is that this fish has three color phases. In its juvenile phase, it is bright yellow, changing to a mixture of yellow and blue during adolescence. It may be spotted with blue or have a yellow body and blue fins. As the fish matures into the intermediate phase, the color darkens to a bright blue or purplish-gray with a yellow caudal fin. Finally, adult blue tangs are deep blue to purplish-blue with a yellow caudal spine.

This fish feeds entirely on algae. It grazes algae from rocky areas and nibbles on filamentous algae. Blue tangs are important in keeping algae populations under control, preventing algae from overgrowing and suffocating corals - ensuring that their stays as beautiful them.
