| From the Editor: Foxy's for New Years
Happy New Year!
I rang in 2005 at Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke. Talk about irony, this sleepy little island is usually host to more colorful beach bars than visitors, but for the last day of the year this all changes. Yachts from all over the World converge for a one of a kind celebration. Local Reggae bands fill the stage outback nestled in a tropical valley. The little dirt road is lined with local vendors selling everything from fireworks to “dark and stormies”. From the beach at foxy’s the yachts overflow in the harbor with their lights creating a star studded horizon. Kiss the one you love, meet fellow yachtees from the far reaches of the globe, and dance the night away. You know it’s going to be a great year when it starts with this much fun!
A prominent magazine named Foxy's the number 7 place in the world to ring in the millenium. Thinking about planning a yachting trip to ring in 2006 at the best destinations – now is the time to contact us as the yachts book up fast for the holidays. Call us at 800-556-0431 to reserve this memorable night.
Barometer: Highlights of an Island bar
The Altamer
Recently I had the pleasure of accompanying famous chef and author Jan Robinson for a tour of Anguilla's best restaurants. Amongst the most notable is the Altamer restaurant and bar designed by the famed architect Myron Goldfinger. On arrival the exterior of the building has a very modern geometrical layout giving the structure a juxtaposed feel amongst the earthy seagrape bushes and salt ponds. One step inside and a sense of harmony unfolds as the sea of tables flow to the wall of windows creating a seamless transition from the dining ambiance to the expansive miles of beach. I relaxed at the elegant bar with a panoramic glass wall showcasing the Anguilian beauty.
This is definitely where modern meets Mother Nature and who knows who you might meet here. To get here by yacht have your captain anchor in Road Bay and take a short taxi ride over to Shoal Bay West. How will the food be on our yachting trip?
This is probably the most frequently asked question about chartering a yacht. The answer is simple: exactly the way you want it. How many vacations can you experience where you write the menu and have a personal chef catering to your ultimate culinary desires? What's more, you will always be seated at the best table with a view that a restaurateur would only dream of capturing - the everchanging view from the deck of your private yacht.
Captain Jan Robinson, a famous author and chef, has compiled great recipes from charter yacht chefs in a series of cookbooks, please visit Ship to Shore to browse the selection. Jan has exquisite taste and has been a celebrity judge at the "Concourse de Chef" competition at the Antigua Yacht Show.

She is run by an energetic and charming Swiss couple Harry and Barbara. They have stories from their sailing journeys that will amaze you almost as much as the gourmet presentations they serve from the galley. The yacht features large deck space, gorgeous woodwork, and an enthusiastic crew ready to show you the islands in relaxed style and nautical excitement.
Harry and Barbara also run a lodge in the Canadian Rockies with horseback riding, fishing, and heliskiing. Sounds like the best of both worlds. Ask about the Surf & Turf Adventure package!

The Moon Jelly
There are certain things that are beautiful to look at, but should not be touched. The Moon Jelly is on this list. The beauty of this creature is transparent both literally and figuratively. A close encounter while snorkeling and you may think that a symphony could be choreographed to the movement of the bulbous body and tentacles as the current gently dances along.
They can grow up to 15 inches in diameter and the perimeter of the bell is lined with hundreds of cilia. The bell of the jelly is marked with the outline of a dark purple, symmetrical four-leafed clover; this is actually the stomach and reproductive organs of the species. Like all marine creatures the moon jelly should not be touched as they can sting with their tentacles as a defense mechanism. Their main predators are birds and sea turtles. The Moon Jelly mostly eats small plankton organisms such as molluskc, crustaceans, fish eggs, and other small jellies.
